Reddit is really very good source of traffic. Your marketing tips are good I have followed them and generate some good traffic.

nice article however i havent been able to get traffic or any karma on reddit very tough almost impossible to get traffic here

Varun, I wouldn't say that it's impossible. It's just not easy because you have to be a part of that community and contribute as much as you possibly can. That's the only way to build trust and then promote something or mention it.

Hi Travis, What do you post when you don't post a link? Is it a thought, an opinion, a picture from something else on your website? Do you post something from your website but don't link to it?

Hi Travis, I meant to respond earlier to David but I do have the same questions for both of you. I found this article as I was searching and searching to figure out what to post when it wasn't a link. I mean, I don't post someone else's article because it's still a link ... I write a blog and if I want to post about anything, it's going to be on my blog already. So, is it okay to post images and then later include same or similar photos that do link to my blog? I need a little help with this. I guess just commenting on other posts is helpful too?

Hey Julie thanks for checking out the article. To answer your question, it completely depeands. You want to contribute to the group in general. You want to add value and get a ton of karma points so the people know who you are. Just write awesome stuff with no links. Then when you have something big you want to promote, make sure to write a value packed post and at the end you can say "this is from my site if you want to read more". You can write something along those lines. But what you can also do is see how other people in that group post and mirror it. You need to get a feel for the room on Reddit.

Thanks for this post, it backs up my own experiences of finding a niche subreddit that matched my site and being active in it. It definitely helps once you become a recognisable username to other people and as it's directly relevant to my own site, everything I'll post will be interesting to someone. Also agree with the overpromotion side of things, I don't post everything I ever do on Reddit, just the best bits or things that haven't already been covered - there's no point me posting something about some news that's already been put in the sub!
