Hi Kyle, thanks for this article - like everything you guys post here, it's super-actionable. Keep up the good work! I just have a small observation about the James Altucher's quote: “Every entrepreneur should self-publish a book, because self-publishing is the new business card." I'm really tired of all those things that a successful entrepreneur should or shouldn't do. It makes me feel really overwhelmed when I read yet another list of stuff I should do as a business owner or as a human being. Worst part is, from my experience, sometimes you might be 100x more successful doing something you actually, according to popular opinion, _shouldn't_ do. To be clear: I'm not saying your article is useless - I think it's super-useful for those who are about to write and self-publish a book. I'm just wondering how to keep myself sane when browsing through all those howtos and such. How do you guys go about this? P.S. Excuse my English - I'm not an English native speaker and my English got a bit rusty these days.
Great article. As a brief note, here's a link to the TED talk by Elizabeth Gilbert in which she talks about the creative muse: https://www.ted.com/talks/elizabeth_gilbert_on_genius
Awesome to have you, Ken. Can't wait to get going!
If you read our last post about the 17 Paths to entrepreneurship you'll see a ton of examples of successful entrepreneurs who didn't write any books. The point is that it's a powerful place to start. As an entrepreneur your two main jobs are 1. Deliver a product or service that makes your users' lives better and 2. Sell that idea to the world. Writing a book gives you a lot of leverage in selling an idea. Whether it's the idea of you or your service/product. It's also a great way of potentially discovering what that thing is that you can sell. So it's not for everybody, but most people could benefit from it.
Your English was great, I didn't even know it wasn't your primary language until your PS :)
Awesome, relevant talk Paul. Thanks for sharing!
The ExactTarget guy was Chris Baggott.

Hi Kyle, First thank you for all your content. Just from your post on IMPORTING gave me the stuff I needed to get my business going and I have even brought someone on now to help me. One thing we are having trouble with is that we have yet to post on Amazon and Ebay. It seems kind of confusing how it works esp. when I'm my items are coming from Alibaba. What should I Do? I would like to get to the point where I am no longer touching the product. Thank you very much for all that you guys do!
I've been trying to push myself to write a book for the longest time, and this post has helped me a lot. Here I am, taking notes and trying to start! Thank you for the extra push, hopefully I can get this done! Love your blog, always.
Great to hear, Macky!! Looking forward to reading your email :)
It sounds like you're going to want to check out Fulfillment by Amazon -- feel free to email if you need more help!
Hi Kyle Again another excellent article so thank you. In fact a friend and I did write a book and it was published and I am now writing a new book. I'm now going to get on with it and look forward to sharing a success story. Kind Regards Rory
Awesome Rory! Are you willing to share the book with us?
My son and I would like to do this - he'll write his and I'll write mine. I just signed up and he's going to sign up separately. My confirmation email says we need to start with a webinar tonight. He'll be able to attend, but I will not. I'll have him take notes :) I'm excited.
For starters, your a freakin writing mofo! Your content is great, its engaging, simple and dog gone it, people like it. Now, to my next point, you got $15 I can borrow til Friday? Keep up the good work my brother-PEACE!!
Very encouraging article Kyle. Thank you for the quick how to for writing a book. By far my favorite line, "People are afraid to be themselves but that’s what the world is begging you for: yourself." Very motivating! -Malik
Thanks a lot Kyle, I'm encouraged to write my book and got great value, content easy to read and quite enriching. Thanks again, this post is everything I need to get started.
Hey Joy! Keep in touch and let us know how the book is along the way! :)
